Not sure what to say?

Janet and I were close friends starting in 1962 as freshmen at the University of Wisconsin. She was truly my "sister" for many years even when we were both distanced by careers and marriages. I am truly sorry to learn just recently (March 2022) that she had died - I had always hoped to reconnect. She was so very funny, smart, caring. She loved her family, her home town, Jane Austen, and Queen Elizabeth II and the other royals. My deep sympathy to her family and friends.

My apologies for my delayed post - I just hear about Janet's passing through an online JAFF community that Janet was very active in. While I never met her in person, I thoroughly enjoyed her wit and wisdom, as well as her kindness to members in the community. I hope her family with find some comfort in knowing how well-loved she is and will always be. Many prayers and thoughts of peace to all of you.

May she rest in peace

Janet was such a bright light; so well read, so intelligent, and so witty, that to be noticed by her as an author was the Nobel Prize of the Jane Austen community. We will miss her more than these simple words can say.

I was saddened to hear of the loss of your beloved family member. I came to know Janet through our online community and shared love of literature over a span of nine years. She entered my life abruptly and though I never met her in these years, she fast became an old familiar soul with the incomparable wit of her conversation, always warm, always hoped for, and with an identical sense of humor that I share and appreciate. I will always tie her to one of our greats and her favorite, Jane...

I "met" Janet via an online Jane Austen community. Her rapid responses and amazing encyclopedic knowledge were amazing. My condolences to her family. Her presence will be missed.

I met Janet through an online Jane Austen community and she volunteered to help me with historical information. She a wonderful help due to her Jane Austen and Regency historical knowledge. In addition, I found her to be a fun and interesting person. I always wondered about Jennifer Jennifer, Janet, but never asked. You will be missed.

Many blessings to Janet and her family and to all of her dear friends who will miss her.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories and combined hopes for the future help us cope. Remembering you and your loved ones today and always.
