Mrs. Janet Dean Sasnett of Washington passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday January 11, 2026.


A graveside service will be officiated by Mary Foreman at the Sasnett Family Cemetery on Cox Road, Washington at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 14, 2026.  Her grandchildren: Tyler, Josh, Adam, Robyn, Amanda, and Kassie will serve as pallbearers.  


The family will receive friends at Paul Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 13, 2026


Janet was born on November 13, 1930, in Wake County to the late Josie Boone Dean and the late Carl Proctor Dean.  A graduate of Watts Hospital School of Nursing, she dedicated her career to caring for others.


She married Bonnie Sasnett on September 9, 1951.  Together they moved to Beaufort County and established the family farm.  Janet and a colleague established the first home health agency in Beaufort County, Eastern Carolina Home Health and Hospice Services.  She worked for over twenty years as nursing administrator of the agency until her retirement.


Above all, Janet was a loving wife and mother and was devoted deeply to her family.  She is survived by her three children: Bonita Arvizu (Henry), Leigh Tetterton, and Paul Sasnett (Marcy); ten grandchildren: Tyler Harriett, Josh Harriett, Robyn Donaghy, Adam Tetterton, Amanda Sasnett, Kassie Mason, Matthew Arvizu, Elizabeth Rimmer, Macy Cahoon and Michael Morgan and fourteen great grandchildren.


She was predeceased, along with her parents, by her husband: Bonnie Sasnett; brothers: Carl and Joe Dean; grandsons: William Ryal Harriett, and Ethan Reid Sasnett; son-in-law: Bobby Tetterton; daughter-in-law: Amy Sasnett; and a great granddaughter: Heidi Ruth Mason.


The Sasnett family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Gentiva Home Care and Hospice for their care and concern shown to Janet and the entire Sasnett family.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Miss Janet when she work with my Mother, Marjorie Paull, at Dr Swindell's office and with My Aunt Katie Paul. She was such a sweet person and wonderful nurse.
