Janet Alice Shodder (nee Keim) passed away peacefully from this life on December 8, 2023, two days shy of her 74th birthday in her home at All American Assisted Living in Sewell, NJ.
Born in Camden, NJ on December 10, 1949, daughter of the late William and Christa Keim, she was raised in Gloucester City, NJ and was a graduate of Gloucester City High School, class of 1967. During her working career, Janet was employed by RCA and Campbell Soup Company in Camden, Cooke & Bieler, an investment firm in Philadelphia and most recently by the Cherry Hill Fire Department. She was a parishioner at Holy Saviour Church where she served as a lector.
Janet enjoyed music and took piano and singing lessons. She loved working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles and was always ready for a game of scrabble or pinochle.
Janet was above all else a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and godmother. She leaves two children, Christine Feeney and her husband Martin of Marlton, NJ and Philip Shodder and his wife Valerie of East Greenbush, NY and her children’s father, Emanuel (Bud) Shodder of Haddon Township, NJ. She also leaves four beautiful grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ariana, Tommy, and Tyler.
Janet is survived by three sisters, Barbara Langley (Richard) of Newington, CT, Theresa Haworth (Gary) of Searsboro, IA, Loretta Wood (William) of Sewell, NJ, a brother, William Keim (Cerise) of Lexington, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas.
Janet will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone who met her. She would want us to honor her legacy and keep her memory alive by taking care of each other.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 15 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish – Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Saviour, 50 Emerald Avenue, Haddon Township, NJ at 11 AM. Entombment will immediately follow at New St. Mary Cemetery & Mausoleum in Belmawr, NJ. Friends may call at the Church one hour before Mass for a visitation from 10 to 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Janet’s name to The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at www.NAMI.org or mail your donation to NAMI, 4301 Wilson Blvd., Suite 300, Arlington, VA 22203.

I was the Fire Chief at Fire District 5 (pre-consolidation) and hired Janet part-time, for administrative support. When the Districts were consolidated, I was the Deputy Chief in Administration and brought Janet with us, full time, due to her diligence, competence and loyalty. She helped shape the foundation of the consolidated fire district. She was kind, dedicated and a good person - she will be missed - may she rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Janet at the Cherry Hill Fire Department. She taught me alot. She was one of the nicest, kindess women that I knew. I would like to share something that has stayed with me for years. I was not in a good place in my life. It seemed like everything was falling apart. I didn't want to get out of bed or do anything. Janet knew that I always kept my home clean. One day there was a knock on my door...yes it was Janet. She had a bucket, mop and broom in...

Janet was a kind soul who will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. Janet was kind and gentle and her smile instantly made everyone around her smile too. May she rest in peace.
