Herm, Dan, and family--
So sorry to hear of Jan's passing. Years ago (at least three decades now) when I knew Jan well she was always so fun and happy. She once showed me how to tell a B from a D by making a thumbs-up with both hands then putting the knuckles together. The left side's the lowercase B; the right's the lowercase D. And I'm sorry I never got to share with her that I use that great example with my younger students every time they struggle with Bs and Ds. All thanks to Jan!...
