Corridan Funeral Home - Chicopee Obituary

Holyoke- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear sister, Janet (Omer) Sudyka, who left this world on August 3, 2025, at the age of 68.  She was a source of strength, warmth, unwavering love, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Janet was born in Holyoke on November 4, 1956, one of 5 children to the late Richard and Barabara (Kelly) Omer.  Janet was a graduate of Holyoke High School, and worked as a waitress for many years.  She was a lover of music and loved to play softball.  Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her kindness, compassion, her vibrant spirit, and she lived with purpose and grace.  Janet is survived by her brothers, Rick and John Omer, and Michael Omer and his wife, Annie; her sister, Julie Archambault and her husband, Ray; her daughter, Kyla Surdyka, and her dear friends, Maryann and Dwayne Paraday, who tirelessly cared for Janet throughout the last 20 years.  In addition to her parents, Janet was also predeceased by her husband, Dennis Surdyka.  All services for Janet will be held privately.  Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, has been entrusted with handling the services.

Mike, my deepest sympathies to you and your family on the passing of your sister Janet.

Janet loved the song Hey Jude by the Beatles. She sang it often. She had a infectious smile and good sense of humor. I bet she is singing again. Rest in Peace Janet.
