Janice Cecille (Hoverson) Fossler Obituary - Death Notice and Service Information

Janice Cecille (Hoverson) Fossler was born to Phillip & Irene (Schwarz) Hoverson on February 11, 1950 in Mercedes, Texas. She passed from this life peacefully on August 4, 2025 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 75.She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip & Irene Hoverson.Janice was raised in Mercedes, Texas, and graduated from Mercedes High School in 1968. She then attended Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M at Kingsville) where she graduated in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics (Dietician Major). Following her graduation from Texas A&I she was married to Terry William Fossler who grew up in Mercedes, as well. The couple moved to Houston, Texas, where she worked for the Federal Land Bank as an accounting clerk until the birth of her daughter, Jennifer Fossler, in 1979. She spent the next 14 years raising her daughter and providing a home life for her husband and daughter. She was an active member in the St. Paul Presbyterian Church and worked as an assistant director of the church’s day care program. She spent the remaining years of her life working as an accounting clerk for two major oil companies and smaller firms until she retired. She loved spending time with her daughter, Jennifer, Ben, and her two granddaughters, Alissa and Madelyn. Her second love was her pets. She was always surrounded by her dogs and cats in retirement. She would spend hours in her backyard tending to her pets and plants. She made a point to always carve out time in the summer to go to the beach. Her favorite beach trips were when she got to bring her granddaughters to make new memories. In addition, she was an avid participant in her church choir. She resided in Houston until November 2024, when she endured heart health conditions which required her to move to Rio Terra Senior Living Community in New Braunfels, Texas, to be near her daughter. Janice is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Holt & husband, Ben of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Madelyn Holt and Alissa Holt; siblings, Marshall Hoverson, Cynthia Wells, Teresa Mostafavi and Clint Hoverson and numerous other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas with Pastor Larry Gipson officiating.
