Not sure what to say?

Jan was a valued friend and colleague who left a lasting impression on everyone who got to know her. Her honesty, work ethic and love of the resource left an example for all of us to follow. My heart goes out to Kelley, her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her in this world, but I hope to meet her again in the next.

Jan will forever be an inspiration to all of us. We will speak of her often and remember her courage, positive attitude and professionalism. She changed all of our lives for the better.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jan's family and friends! I was a classmate and friend of Jan's at Grandville...and I hold a very special place in my heart for her. Jan was a exceptional person....and a friend to many. To me, she was a dear friend, one to be admired for all she was and all she stood for...and someone I always missed having contact with following graduation. I can only imagine how she touched the hearts and lives of many over the years....and how she will be missed. My...

Jan was a class act. In her job, she was invariably professional and knowledgeable, firm when necessary, but at the same time, always courteous and gracious. She was both well-respected and well-liked. There was never any question that the resource came first. During the last two years, her true character shone bright. She was a brave, determined fighter who miraculously held on to her positive attitude. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was my friend.

Even though a light has dimmed with Jan's passing, left to console are the memories of her zest, strength and compassion for life. Jan has given new meaning and depth to the word role-model for me.

Jan always greeted you with that winning smile and energetic "Hello" that lifted your spirit and set the mood for a great exchange of ideas. A great person and true champion of the resources she loved so much. She will be missed. My heart goes out to you Kelley and your family.

Although I did not have much contact with Jan over the past years, I did keep in touch with some of her close friends on her courageous battle with cancer. I consider myself priviledged to have been able to work with Jan in Gaylord and she will be missed not only by her fellow co-workers, but her many friends and family members. My prayers and thoughts go out to Kelley and her family.

I was so shocked, and saddened, by Janice's death. I went to school with her at Riverbend and Grandville Junior High. I always remember her as being a good and kind friend. My deepest and heartfelt sympathies go out to the entire family.

I had the pleasure of working with Jan on many fishery issues especially through the American Fisheries Society. I always looked forward to meeting her as a long-time colleague and friend at the many gatherings and meetings we were privileged to attend.
