JANICE LAVINA JOHNSON Graveside services for longtime Cortez resident Janice Lavina Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 19 at Cortez Cemetery. Janice was born July 3, 1925 in Branson, Colo. the daughter of Lester Rupert and Charlet Edna (Wheeler) Baker. She passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 91. Surviving Janice are her son, Kevin C. Johnson of Cortez; her grandchildren, Erin Carlson (Ryan) of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Lex Johnson of New River, Ariz.; her great-grandchildren, Cyrus Carlson and Tiptin Carlson; and by her sister, Bernice Scheller (Ernie) of Cortez. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Charles J. "Cy" Johnson; and by her siblings, Earl Baker, Harry Baker, Merval Baker, Charlet Sparks, and Lela McClain.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Janice added a lot to our 4-H trips and loved to hear her laugh. She was a good person to share the fun fimes through my youth. Sorry we didn't know of the service in time to attend.

Kevin and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of our wonderful Janice. I have such fond memories of Aunt Janice when I as growing up. From visiting her at JC Penney's to seeing her at family gatherings, she would always have a welcome hug and smile. May she rest in peace. Sending my love!
