We lived across from the Longones in the 1980s. They invited us over for dinner; wonderful dinner, wonderful couple! I now own a bookstore with only a small cookery section - and I remember with pleasure, and awe, being shown their library in the basement. Sincere sympathy to Dan; and thank you both!

I only met Jan a couple of times, but my mom knew her for many years -- some of my mom's cookbooks ended up in Jan's collections. jan's death is a loss to the food studies community.

I did not know Janice but I read every article about her, I followed her (like a groupie). I thought I had the most cookbooks but she wins. I really admire her for all the work she has done. Some of us are just food or recipe addicts. She was my kind of person. I'm so sorry for her passing, this is a great loss.
