Janie Wells Obituary

Janie Ellen Wells passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the age of 55. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charles and Janie Sue Wells. She is survived by her loving sisters, Brenda W. Prevost (Fred Barry) and Karen W. Gause (Frank); her niece Lindsey Prevost (Jacob Mayer); and especially her companion cat, Tabitha. Janie was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Metairie, LA following Hurricane Katrina. Janie was faithful to her Lord and Savior and a member of First Baptist Church of Chalmette. With much of Janie's days spent at home, she was an avid consumer of technology, computers, shopping on Amazon and learning nearly everything about her beloved Josh Groban. Although Janie's illness made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. Her courage is a reminder that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Special thanks and deep appreciation to the staff of East Jefferson General Hospital, especially Dr. Rada; the doctors at University Medical Center and the kind nurses at CareLink. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, October 11th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a funeral service in Janie's memory beginning at 12:00PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Janie's memory to the Louisiana SPCA at www.la-spca.org or 504-368-5191. So sorry for your loss, Kim and Karen. I communicated occasionally with Janie the last couple of years. I knew that she loved her cat, Tabitha, and that she was ill. I knew that she was a huge fan of Josh Groban. I know that she will be missed. Praying for Janie and your family.
