October 10, 1942 - October 4, 2017 Janis Hansen Klinger was a beautiful and remarkable person. Born in Great Falls, Montana, Janis spent her earliest years in a ranch outside remote Absarokee, raised by her grandparents after her parents had divorced. The ranch had neither electricity nor indoor...

Not sure what to say?

Janis was an early idol, and I've thought of her often over the years. My parents treated me to a Brasil '66 concert at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA when I was just 7, so that I could see her perform my favorite, "Mas que Nada", in person. I can still see and hear her beauty radiating out from that rotating stage, all sparkles and smiles, auburn hair and powerful pipes. Even her pretty dress awed me! As a consequence of not having been born yet, the descendants of a star like...

Loved your voice with Brasilia 66, the Carnival, and even the Going Things with Ford. God bless you in Heaven. Bill Damroth

Found Janis after hearing her recording of 'The Look of Love' and wondering why that fantastic vocalist was not named. She was such a talented. I am sorry not to have met her during her life, but I am gratified to read from so many others who loved and appreciated her. RIP to this immense talent.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SINGING VOICE. WATCHED HER ON TV WHEN I WAS LITTLE. REALLY LIKED BEAUYY & HER GREAT PERSONAL STYLE. BOTH MY PARENTS ENJOYED HER MUSIC AND RECORDINGS.

Troy Crowe and my friends at diyaudio.com are working with me to realize a lifelong dream: Complete the design and build of a high resolution speaker system. The risks one takes with speakers like this, and the equally transparent DACs and amplifiers they require, is that less than well recorded music can sound awful through them. But with few exceptions I think that Bruce Botnick, Larry Levine and Henry Lewy did fine engineering work on all of the original A & M albums for Sergio Mendes,...

Not all great singers can have that rare gift of a pretty sounding voice that is ever youthful. Ella Fitzgerald and Eydie Gorme had this musical gift. But so did Janis, with her extraordinary soprano voice. And her voice could effortlessly and beautifully sing songs ranging from the Brazilian Bossa Nova's to her splendid R&B interpretation of "The Truth About It." Musical memories are eternal. Rest in peace Janis. I know our Lord Jesus Christ has invited you into his heavenly...

Just watching videos of Janis singing so beautifully and complementing perfectly the band known at the time as Brasil `66. I send sympathies to her husband (Richard), children and grandchildren. May she Rest In Peace.

10 minutes to record Brasil `66´s most iconic song and my favorite! She was the best. RIP Lovely Lady

I was when 17 while babysitting for and browsing the record collection of neighbors down the street here on Long Island. There, I found the "Herb Alpert Presents......" and "Equinox" albums. Those folks had a respectable Fisher stereo tube amp and speakers in their living room. I keep remembering how lucky I was then to have heard several tracks from both albums before the parents returned that night-and all without waking the kids! Everything about those tracks were among the most hypnotic...
