Dr. Janis Oldham

Rest well, Dr. Oldham. You gave so much to your scholars, young and old. I will always remember your sweet and caring spirit and your love for family.

Just learned of Janis's death from the University of Chicago Magazine. Sharing in your sorrow and your joy in the resurrection. Janis was a strong and stalwart friend to me in college. We were in the same class. Later, when we had begun our careers, she encouraged me to consider teaching at an HBCU. Wise woman!

I am blessed to have known Jan since we were college students at the University of Chicago. She was a wonderful friend who would always laugh with me at life's absurdities, and share the joys of our journeys with Jesus Christ. I am glad that she is with Jesus now. May God's peace comfort her family as they mourn her passing from this life to the next.

Janis was such a special friend, church member, and colleague. This fellow mathematician loved teaching and was dedicated to the success of her students. I count it a privilege and an honor to have known her and to blessed by her presence. I will miss our interactions and seeing her and her mother at church and on campus. Praying that God will comfort you and keep you close!

I just recently met this sweet lady and her family,Don and Michael and of course Mrs jean and many others ,such a strong and loving family!May Ms Janice rest in peace,may God continue to bless you all!

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Oldham. We called Janis and her mom The Oldham Sisters and it was always a joy to be in their company. God has called another famous mathematician home to be with Him. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to the family.

A dedicated teacher who was passionately committed to her students, and a warm, kind and always sympathetic colleague. She left us much too soon.
