Janis R. Snell

I just happened to be browsing the Dispatch's website and read about Janis Snell's passing. I never had her for math, but I heard that she could draw a perfect circle by starting with her back to the blackboard and finishing up facing the board. That always stuck in my mind.

Miss Snell was such a huge part of my education. It is through her Sr. Calculus class that I learned discipline in the classroom (finally I was in a math class where I could not afford to goof off). She held students' attention by inspiring and encouraging us to do our best. She made a big difference in many young people's education and thus lives. She was a unique and special person.

Janis was a wonderful woman. She was knowledgeable and had so much love for her cats. We miss you Janis!

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to begin my teaching career at York Suburban. Your dedication and love of mathematics have been an inspiration for my teaching. I only hope that I may continue the tradition of an excellent math program at York Suburban. May you rest in peace with our Lord!
