Jann Aldredge-Clanton

I just now read of Jann´s passing. My condolences to her family. She has such a light upon her. I knew her when I was. Seminarian at Perkins. I attended Grace UMC and there was this group of women lead by Jann who held a service upstairs called The New Wineskins. I grew so much spiritually in that group. Jann was so ahead and filled with grace!

At this moment, I am trying to discover if Jann's service at Wilshire Baptist is being streamed. Meanwhile, I discovered some of these testimonials, so I decided I should write one as well. I knew Jann through the Waco Ministerial Alliance, the Caritas of Waco clergy support committee, and Seventh & James Baptist Church, where Jann was ordained. David and Family! You may not remember me, I was a former of St. John's Methodist Church which became Central in 1988. I live in Grapevine as of 2001 & a member of First Methodist Church- Grapevine. My love and prayers towards you and your family.

It was my honor to work with Jann in the hospice program originally at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Her gentle and powerful ministry was a blessing to patients and to our staff. I will always be grateful for her life's work of affirming the feminine in the divine and the divine in women.

David and family, I am so sorry that I won´t be able to attend Jann´s Memorial Service. She means so much to me. I use her books and ideas in teaching children at Royal Lane Baptist. She was good friends with Marsha Pool at Dallas Baptist University, who was another matriarch, in the Math Department, that I learned from. I valued all of Jann´s connections. Jann was an inspiration and role model to me when I was a newly ordained hospital chaplain. Her dedication to her ministry and the people she ministered to served as a shining light to all of us who had the good fortune to work with her. She always had a smile and was willing to listen or advise us. It is rare to work with someone who is so gifted and who really makes a difference in this world. She will be sorely missed. May her memory be a blessing now and forever.
