Not sure what to say?

Brothers on the field. Until Valhalla, Shoe!

Jared continues to live on in our hearts. I went to a cousin's Memorial Service this past month and the priest said something I will always remember...we don't need to use the past tense of the word "love" when talking about those in our lives that have died and moved on to their eternal life. They continue to live on so it is right that we continue to say we "love" them. Jared, we LOVE you still! We know with certainty that you live on, even if it is in a different place, a different...

Currently I am in the Tulsa Police Academy and we have honored all the Tulsa police officers who have died in the line of duty. Cpl Shoemaker is not listed on our wall because he died overseas in service of his country but that does not mean he is not remembered here in Tulsa. There is a memorial walk for him each year and the money raised is given to participants in the special olympics here in Oklahoma. Today I was asked to prepare a description of what happened to Jared Shoemaker. I am a...

To the family and friends of Cpl. Jared M. Shoemaker:
Please accept my remembrance of Jared on the anniversary of his passing and know that he will never be forgotten.

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one...

I was the VC of the truck Cpl Shoemaker took over upon his arrival at Camp Baharia. I took an intense liking to him during the nights we sat on Route Fran, securing it for other units RIP's. My junior Marines thought I looked older than him, even though I was only 25! Shoemaker was always laughing with us, making jokes, even when things weren't going so well. I got to spend roughly a week with him and was terribly saddened to hear of his death. 2 days or so after I learned it, I was...

Dear Shoemaker Family,
I was privileged to attend the dedication today of the Cpl. Jared Shoemaker Military Center and Lounge at the Tulsa airport. Having two sons who enlisted in the U.S. Marines, my heart is and always will be one as a "Marine Mom."
I did not know Jared, and only heard about him from one of my young Marine friends who invited me to the dedication. I went online to learn what I could about him. Thank you for raising, loving, and giving such a fine young man to all...
