Love Under His Nose
Three months ago, Jason DeFazio married the girl who had a crush on him in high school. He was a linebacker on the Curtis High School football team on Staten Island; Michele Moss was a cheerleader, about three years his junior. She was in love with him; he had no idea.

But when they met by happenstance at the Jersey Shore three years ago, he paid attention. He wondered aloud how he had missed her in the first place. No matter. The relationship Ms. Moss had dreamed of as a teenager blossomed under a star-filled sky.

Now he is gone again. Mr. DeFazio, 29, worked as a bond trader at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of the north tower. Mrs. DeFazio is heartbroken that they did not have a chance to raise children. She will miss the chutzpah that helped him work his way from the mailroom to the trading floor.

"He was a joy to be around," Mrs. DeFazio said. "He made crazy faces that made everyone laugh. He was the type of person I could bring to meet new friends and he got along with everybody."

Not sure what to say?

Dear Jason,

Like others here on this page, I found your story through the NYT photo carousel memorializing 9/11 this year. Reading your wife’s note, as well as the many notes from your mom to you just broke my heart and their pain is just unimaginable and devastating. I was in high school when 9/11 happened and all the way in California we felt the tremendous and awful impact of that day. It touched all of us, and shaped who we are. You will never be forgotten, your were so...

We found you through the 9/11 Memorial, and we still want to offer our love and prayers to your family, who must miss you so much... It's been many years, and we surely will never forget... (I apologize for this being a day late, we had another terrible tragedy happen here)...

I saw a picture of your wife hold a flyer with your name on it. She adored you and I’m sure you adored her. We still remember you, and her love for you these many years later.

I never met you, I didn’t even live in the country when 911 happened, I saw a picture on Instagram of your wife holding a poster looking for you and it broke my heart. I hope heaven is as beautiful as I imagine. Rest in eternal peace.

Jason, I was moved by a picture of your wife holding up your poster. We remember and honor you and everyone else who died on this day 24 years ago. You will never be forgotten.

Writing this today, Jason, I have never met you but I always hope on here to see the updates from your Mom and Dad. My heartaches for them, I heard your name called and I saw someone holding your poster. May God bless you and your loved ones. You will never be Forgotten.

As 9/11 passes once again you and your family are remembered in our prayers

We found you at the Memorial Fountain while visiting NY. I felt such deep grief upon seeing our American Flag burnt up, and the wall with all the thousands of people that were lost, and thinking of the families left behind. I know you are nearby to your family and friends, I hope they know that too. I just wanted to come back to let you know we will never forget... God bless your family and friends...

Jason, you are unforgettable! God bless you in heaven ! You are missed greatly!! But the promise of the Lord is that we will all, His children, be together again for eternity!!Amen
