O'Neill Funeral Home - Cumberland Obituary

Jason Samuel Kornberg, 52, of Coventry, RI, passed away on October 6, 2020. He was the dedicated and loving husband of Tracy Elizabeth Young. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Frederick Kornberg and Jack and Donna (Simpkins) Charney. Jason faithfully served the citizens of Cranston through his dedicated service as a firefighter and first responder on the Cranston Fire Department and was a member of IAFF, Local 1363. He was a kind, loving, gentle soul and always put others before himself. Jason helped the people he cared for with all his heart. Prior to joining the Cranston Fire Department, he served as an emergency medical technician and was a pharmaceutical sales representative at Novartis Pharmaceuticals. He graduated from Cumberland High School in 1986 and from the University of Rhode Island with a BA in English. Jason was an avid runner for most of his life, completing numerous marathons. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing and hiking with his two dogs Finbarr and Piper, who he absolutely adored. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his beloved children, Caroline Kornberg, and Ian Kornberg, and his brother Eric Kornberg.

A Private Service will be Livestreamed, Wednesday, October 14th at 11 AM, right here on Jason's obituary page. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jason’s memory may be made to The Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance, 1440 State Highway 248, Suite Q #462, Branson, MO 65616.

While time & distance may have passed between us & our only lingering bond be FB - I always held our friendship in a special place in my heart. He was truly a kind human being. I worked with Jason years ago and we bonded over our love of music. He was passionate not only about music, but also his work and his children. We saw each other off and on through the years and I enjoyed every interaction. His kindness and concern for others was unsurpassed. My deepest condolences to his family.
