Jason Michael Lewis Jason Michael Lewis, 40, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA after an extremely short battle with kidney cancer. He was born in Traverse City, MI. on November 12, 1972, to Michael Lewis and Kathleen Millross. Jason graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1991. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1996. He received a Masters of Engineering in Manufacturing from the University of Michigan in 2002. He also received a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 2002. On July 18, 1998, Jason married his college sweetheart, Dana LaFranca in Sterling Heights, Mi. They have three children. Jason's career began with an engineering internship at Johnson Controls in Plymouth, MI. After graduation, he worked as an engineer at the Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, MI. Upon completion of his MBA, he accepted a consulting position with McKinsey & Company in the Detroit office. After the birth of his third son, he accepted a Business Executive position with the General Electric Company. He and his family moved to several locations with GE; including Connecticut; Washington, and most recently, Charlottesville, Virginia. He was presently working as the General Manager of Global Professional Services, for the General Electric Company. He is survived by his wife, Dana; his sons, Noah, Owen and Luke; his father, Michael (Beverly) Lewis; mother, Kathleen (David) Millross; paternal grandmother, Jane Lewis; sister, Mary Beth (Brad) Forester; in-laws, Bill (Nancy) LaFranca; sister-in-law, Lisa (Austin) Shellito; brother-in-law, James (Allison) LaFranca; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A life celebration is planned in honor of Jason Lewis on Saturday September 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Oak Pointe Church in Novi, MI. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been setup for the Lewis Boys college education.
