Jason M. Meyer

MEYER, Pfc Jason M. - Age 23, was killed Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in Baghdad, Iraq, while serving his country. He was born March 14, 1980, in Howell, Michigan. He graduated from Howell High School in 1999. He enlisted in the United States Army in August 2001. Jason and Melissa M. Arnould were married March 30, 2002. They have resided in Hinesville, GA for the past year. Prior to enlisting in the Army, Jason worked as a carpenter in Howell, MI. Upon completion of One- Unit Training, Jason was assigned to Bravo Company, 11th Engineers, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA. He was deployed to the Persian Gulf on January 23, 2003. Jason was a Senior DeMolay at Livingston County Chapter, where he was Past Master Councilor and a member of the Advisory Council; and a member of Howell Lodge #38, F.&A.M. He and Melissa joined Flint Chapter #138, Order of the Eastern Star together in September, 2001. Jason and Melissa met while both were active in the Masonic Youth Organizations. Melissa has established a charitable fund in Jasons's memory to assist DeMolays in need to attend Michigan DeMolay's Winterfest and Conclave. Contributions to this fund may be made to DeMolay Foundation of Michigan, Inc. PO Box 2611, Farmington Hills, MI 48333-2611, a 501c3 charitable organization. Note: Jason M. Meyer Memorial Fund. Jason is survived by his wife, Melissa; mother, Kathy Worthington and her husband, Chris; brothers, Chris, Justin and Tyler; sisters, Ashley and Amy; father, Loren and his wife, Debbie; stepbrother, Jonathan; Melissa's parents, John and Connie Arnould; brothers, J.T. Arnould and Marcello Johnson; special friends, Matt, Laurie, Jason, Brian, Kevin and Ethan McClanahan and Ben Johnson. The family will receive visitors at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road from 6-9pm Tuesday, April 15, 2003; 1-4 and 6-9pm Wednesday, April 16, 2003 and 10am Thursday, April 17, 2003 until the time of the service at 11am. Reverend Steven J. Buck will be officiating. Memorial services will be conducted by DeMolay, Order of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge starting at 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
