All of us were saddened to learn of Jay's passing. He was such an integral part of our Chapter of the Military Officers Association - we will miss him greatly.
You and Jay brought so much laughter and expertise especially for our Scholarship Fund raising and Jay's experience, knowledge and insight cannot be replaced. It just won't be the same.

Dear Eleanor and all of Jay's family,
Getting to know Jay was one of the highlights of my recent term with TUAA and TAC. His dedication to Tufts was much admired and set a great example for all of us. He will be missed greatly but his contributions to our alma mater live on.

Dear family, I am saddend to learn of he death of such a vibrant and lively man as Jay. He loved his countr and he loved his alma mater and so do I. I was always moved by his enthusiasm for his causes, particulary ROTC. He was such a splendid example to the young officers trained at Tufts. I valued his advice and counsel.

Eleanor,
I always enjoyed my conversations with Jay - his wit and straightforwardness were always refreshing. I will always remember his "mid-stream" contributions to the Raffle, designed to give him the "best chance to win." The Cape Cod Tufts Club will miss him; and you are always welcome to attend our events - we'd love to see you.

I met Jay at the time of our respective class reunions in 2000. At the Alumni Luncheon, President Di Biaggio noted that the class of 1945 and 1970 were defined by World War II and the Vietnam War respectively. Jay and I decided that this was an important connection. We forged a very nice friendship. Despite our differences we found much common ground. Jay was very proud of his experience with the Navy program at Tufts. I was equally proud of my peaceful activities...

Dear Eleanor and family, For a lad coming from Belfast, Northern Ireland and landing in Wellesley, the hospitality of Howard and the Samuels family was immense, and no one could make us Babson students laugh like Jay. The World will be a sadder place without him, but the memories will endure for a very long time (and maybe there's a little bit of him in little Max and Tessa)
