Not sure what to say?

My sincere condolences to Jason's family, many years late. I was a classmate of Jason at McCornack Elementary School and for some reason, I remembered him today, his smile, cheerfulness, beautiful eyes, and New Zealand accent. I was so sad to read this. I can see from his adult life that he was indeed the special person that shone through as a boy.

What an amazing service today! We knew that Jason was an amazing mentor, teacher and father, but it was great hearing all the stories about him growing up in High School and College and from all of his family and friends he has made all over the world that also think so highly of him.

I hope that these memories are shared over and over with his children for years to come and that they know what a wonderful father they were blessed with.

A very touching memorial and we...

Jason was one of my all time favorite students in over 30 years of teaching. He was popular with his classmates and the teaching staff. He had a great personality and always made me laugh. I will really miss him.

My prayers are with his entire family. He was an amazing teacher and an overall great guy. Such a loss.

Mr. Waterman was an amazing teacher and was always SO encouraging to all students. Our favorite memory is his making Brett read the part of Juliet in English class freshman year and also of him talking so highly of his wife and kids. We heard many stories of Henry the Destroyer and Addy! He was missed dearly when he moved. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his entire family!!!

With a heavy heart and Spiritual Hope I express my condolences and love to Jason, his parents, bro, wife, kids, extended fam and friends. I met Jason through our sons who became best friends before the move the NZ. We became fast friends and hung together with our families and on our own. From what I saw and learned I know Jason lived BIG and left little room for "I wish I had that experience or given that." Among many other things, he was a great father, teacher, student , well read...

I met Jason in 1987 when we both worked at Camp Easter Seal in Oregon (1987 and 1988.) I was the camp nurse and he was an amazing, funny, talented and wonderfully caring camp counselor. He was devoted to the campers and staff.....and was truly loved by all of us who knew him. The world was brighter for awhile while he was here.

My sincere condolences to all of Jason's family and his many friends. In this sadness I feel fortunate at least to have so many positive memories of him from my time in Eugene to dwell on. He was so well-liked, and he'll be profoundly missed.

In high school, everyone always said good things about Mr. Waterman's English class. I was jealous I wasn't in his class and in the final semester of my senior year he offered a drama class. I was so excited to see what his teaching would be like, especially in such a creative context. He pleasantly surprised me. Though he had a wonderful sense of humor, he was not the goof-ball teacher I had been expecting. He was very serious and committed to the task at hand, but he also understood the...
