We had a shop across from Jasper in the 4th Ave Farmers Market (Rose City Frozen Yogurt). Every day Jasper brightened up the whole place and was so dear to everyone. Every morning he sold us the fruit that was too ripe for his customers and we made fruit salad. Many of my friends knew him from much earlier days in Lake Oswego. I remember him often.

I'm 80. As a youngster, my great aunt would, with me tagging along would have Jasper pick out the perfect mellon for "Miss Lawrence". I still remember his big smile, pleasent demeaner, and always at top speed.

I remember Jasper at the Farmer's Market in downtown Portland. My mom would always go to Jasper for fruit to put up: peaches, grapes, plums, pears.............Jasper was the expert.
