Not sure what to say?

I left South Miami after graduation and never really returned. I heard of Jay´s tragic passing from a close friend years ago, but way too late to say goodbye. Jay and I were close friends in junior high. I recall him receiving the big athletic trophy at the end of one year, and I got a ribbon for being a top academic student. I was so envious of that trophy, but his Mom and he made a big deal over my award. Telling of what kind of guy he was, as well as his family. We ran in different circles...

My heart goes out to the Beckman family. I did not know Jay, but I was a friend of John's & I know how proud John was of his brother, and how close they were. When I first heard of this, I wasn't sure it was the Jay Beckman I knew of, through his brother. I can only imagine the heartache the family is feeling. My sympathies, although very late, to the family.

i am so sorry that it took so long. i keep thinking about the name Beckman and thinking that i went to school with a Jay Beckman. i played football with him and he was a great guy. i would like to send my regards. from the class of 73' James Bennett

Noemi Vento- SMH Class of 74

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.

To the Beckman family and the South Miami Cobra family ~ Jay's death has been so hard to comprehend. As I reflect back, I cherish the memories of our very first Cobra Class of '73, with young Jay Beckman, leading us on the football field and the basketball court. He was a super star and a great kid.
Ed, Kim, Witt and John, may God's peace be with you. With love and deep sympathy, Danny and LaGena

Jay was a fine citizen and a great mentor when I was growing up in Miami. He had plenty of personality and was a fine example of a person. He and his family helped me grow up into who I am today. Jay will be missed, but the example of a fine person from a fine family will always remain.

To the Beckman Family: Having known much of your family for 33 years, our sadness is profound. Jay was a great neighbor, friend and devoted father. No one has worked harder for our South Miami community than Jay. He did so with integrity, tenacity and enthusiasm. He really and truly made a difference in our community and our lives. He will be missed. Our prayers and sympathy go out to your family. (Rosemary Berlin and Wayne Grosse)

To The Beckman Family,
My Deepest sympathy for this terrible loss. My heart goes out to all of you. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

To The Beckman Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you as your family goes through this very difficult time. You were always one of the most outstanding athletes " The Beckman Boys" who ruled South Miami Athletics. May the life I lived speak for me.
