Dear Cherrington Family:

Dear Family of Owen,
May God give you strength to bear such a great loss. I got to know Owen for the last five years and became a good friend, and I am greatly saddened by his loss.
God works in mysterious ways and sometimes takes the best from amongst us sooner.
May his soul rest in peace!

I am deeply sadden to hear of the passing of your husband and father. Jay was one of my professors at Utah State University where I received both my Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Accountancy Degrees. He also served as a valuable member of my Graduate Committee along with Norman Cannon and John Condie. My deepest sympathy and love goes out to you and your family during this period of sadness in your lives. The gospel is true and the separation is but a short one. My family's prayers are with...

We knew Bishop Cherrington for a long time. He was the bishop while we dated, and then we lived in your family ward while he served in the stake presidency. There was always such a sweet peace in your home. We will always remember the counsel he gave us regarding marriage and careers. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Laura and Family,
I heard about your loss and am sorry I could not attend the funeral. I did not know Bro. Cherrington well, but the few times I met him, I grew to respect him greatly. He loved his family and was so proud of you all. He was always so considerate of others. I am happy and willing to do anything I can for you.

Dear Laura and Cherrington Family-
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father and husband. My heart and prayers go out to you. Although I did not get the chance to interact very much with Bro. Cherrington he always treated me with kindness and sincere care. Please let me know if I can do anything for you.

We are sorry for your loss; you are in our prayers and thoughts.
Sincerely,

We will always remember a treasured friend and colleague and be inspired by the example of his life. The light it brought to this world during his all too brief journey illumed us all and the memory of him will continue to lighten the lives, hearts and souls of all who knew him. Though Earth is poorer without Owen, Heaven is richer to have him.

Owen was known by me as Elder Cherrington and was one of the missionaries who found me and taught me the Gospel. He was the one who asked if I wanted to know more about the Mormons, and twenty days later he baptized me. I never pass the anniversary of my joining the Church without reflecting deeply on the impact he had on my life because of the mission he so cheerfully and successfully served in Canada. There is no end to the good that he brought into the world, and it is my prayer that this...
