My family and I had the pleasure of meeting the Goerk family
when they lived in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. We both had brothers
playing football on a local team and met at a pre-football party at their house. Jay Sr. was a wonderful host and had a terrific sense of humor. I remain close friends with Jay Jr.
and treasure those memories. Thinking of you, Coke, David, Roger and Jennifer.

My membership at the Spring Lake Golf Club was enriched by my friendship with Jay who was warm, intelligent and extremely friendly. His military record showed him to be a true hero. His time as a corpsman with the marines at the battle of Tarawa, one of the bloodiest conflicts in the Pacific, deserves to be remembered as well as his other experiences. His devotion to Coralie was a true example of what a good marriage is all about. We have lost a true example of what it means to love family...
