Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home - Wethersfield Obituary

Jay A. Janick, 65, born August 12, 1958, son of the late Edmund and Rose (Mancuso) Janick,

passed away on March 8, 2024. Jay was born in Hartford but lived in Farmington most of his

life. Jay spent many summers in Old Lyme and Westbrook. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and

the beach with family and friends. Throughout his life, Jay had a very competitive nature when

it came to sports and he loved playing baseball, football, and golf. He was an avid baseball fan

and loved the Red Sox, but most of all, he was passionate about his Green Bay Packers. Jay

was goodhearted with a generous spirit, a strong work ethic, and a larger-than-life personality.

He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Jay is survived by his daughter Rose Marie and her fiancé Nathan, his four grandchildren,

Dominic Jr,  Ava, Lucas, and Liam, and his daughter Christine. Jay also leaves his two sisters

and their families, Joy and Andrew Landsman and their daughter Codie, Jodi and Mark

Rumley and their children Rebecca, Hannah, Luke, Sarah, and Matiwos, and his partner

Monica.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Thursday, April 11,

2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT.

Jay Janick, my youngest male cousin! His Dad, my Uncle Edmund, was my mom, Jennie (Genevieve Janik) Marcotte's youngest brother. I remember attending Jay's parent's, Uncle Eddie & Aunt Rose's wedding!

I also remember when my Uncle Eddie & Aunt Rose had Jay. They were so excited when their son, Jay, was born. Especially, my Uncle Eddie. He was proud as punch every time that he talked of his son, Jay! Understandably, as Jay was a very adorable little boy with curly blonde hair and...

I always enjoyed our conversations and will miss you asking about my golf game.

Another of our neighborhood friends passing always brings back many happy memories. When we all got together to play "hit the bat" or tackle football in our front yard, Jay would always be there. Of course, as team captain he would always have a valid excuse why he had first choice pick for who was on his team. He was always one of the best players no matter what the game. My brother Jonathan was the same age as Jay and when he passed in 1981, Jay was hit hard as we all were. I remember...
