Not sure what to say?

So many people enjoyed Jay’s love of life. He would remind us not to wait for things to get easier, simpler, better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now. Otherwise you’ll run out of time.

For those of us who shared a ball field, a road trip, a cocktail and more with our newly departed friend Jay (Barns) Paulus, at this Thanksgiving and Christmas time, let us be thankful and not forget the good people, good times and the integrity which really defined what Jay Paulus’s life was all about. I am thankful to have experienced, whether in a large group, together with a few friend or best of all, one-on-one, Jay’s wit, verbal jousting, laughter and pure enjoyment that were always...

I'm deeply saddened to know that Jay is no longer with us. He was such an impressive man, so kind, straight forward, smart, respectful. I admired and trusted him as my boss and enjoyed his humor as my friend.

My condolences to Jay's family and friends. Its been many years since I worked with Jay but I have wonderful memories of his humor, his leadership and his deep respect for every person he touched. He will be missed.

I can see Jay walking up to my dorm at Gustavus, his hands tucked inside his Gamma jacket, to pick up my roommate, Rachel, for a date our freshman year. He always looked you in the eye, and there was always a twinkle in his blue eyes. Warm, caring, respectful and he knew what was important. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Ruth Ulrich Fransen '73 and Bob Fransen (frat brother) '72.

jay was a very good man, i only knew him from the anual brule bender, but always looked forward to seeing him.i will miss his great personality, my condolances to his family.

It has been many years since I have seen or spoken to Jay but I have many warm memories of Jay both as a co-worker and a friend, he was full of life and had a wonderful soul. Great memories of Jay will remain in many hearts.

I am saddened to hear of Jay's death. My hearty condolences to the family.

I remember him best when I worked with him in Job Search services at Control Data and it was a pleasure having him as a co-worker.

May you treasure his memories and may he rest peacefully,

To Jay's family: My heart goes out to you. Although I hadn't seen Jay in many years I remember him at his best.

He made a difference in the lives of so many people during his earlier work with juveniles and unemployed adults. His genuine caring manner and down to earth nature meant he could 'reach' everyone to let them know he wanted to truly help.

He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile. And anyone who talked with him during the late 1980's knew that his...
