JAY SHIPMAN

Jane, I was so sad when I heard of Jay's passing. I know you loved him so much as did many of his students and friends. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Jay but really only knew him when we were both young. I am Barbara Van Gorps sister. It was a pleasure to be with you both at Barbara's birthday party in Oct. My prayers and thoughts are with you now and in the future.

Jay and I grew up together as grade-school classmates at Washington School. As the son of a teacher in NJSD, I grew to appreciate and admire the selfless dedication that Jay made to his students and the community.

I too am heartbroken. Jay was a wonderful, soft soul; kind and considerate. My family and I will miss him.

My deepest sympathy to all of you and your families at this most difficult of times. While our paths seldom crossed since the 60's I know what a wonderful soul and friend Jay was to everyone he shared a moment in time with. My prayers and thoughts are with you and may the memories of Jay never leave your hearts.
