Not sure what to say?

I worked at PFPL for nine years under Miss Hess. The day she excepted the director's job was a gift to Phillipsburg. Sophisticated, hometown girl made it big and she came back and shared her vast knowledge for libraries when she could have gone anywhere in the country. I admired her love for books and education and I eventually got a teaching degree and have worked in school libraries for 25 years. I am so grateful our paths crossed - RIP.

Miss Hess was my father's uncle's daughter. So I guess that would mean she is my first cousin, once removed. We only met a few times at her job in the library, but I appreciated all the help she offered in cementing my love of literature, which I continue to this day. God Bless, Miss Jayne.

Miss Hess was a caring professional - intelligent, gracious and committed to making the Phillipsburg Free Public Library the town's jewel. I owe my careers as a children's author and a librarian to her and the exceptional library she developed. We were lucky to have her at PFPL for so long.

Loved her Library and her good work. I live in Tucson but ran P'Burg's Head Start program in the late 70's and our kids were always welcome!

Miss Hess was the first director I worked under at the Phillipsburg Library. Her love of the profession she chose was inspiring and helped me to do my best for all the people we serve. Thank you.

Those whose lives have been enriched by books that grace the the shelves at the Phillipsburg Free Public Library will always remember Miss Hess. Her dedication to growth and quality is marked by the voluminous inventory that lives on the shelves today.

What a blessed woman! What a loss.
