Dear LaVaughn and family, I am so sorry to hear of J. D. passing. As you probably remember, as I grew up you were like second parents. I remember the times I stayed with you while my mother was in the hospital. You never complained. You both were such good friends to my mother and friends as something so needed badly. I can't tell you how much my heart is breaking for you. God has a plan and he knew what he was doing. J. D. will be watching you from Heaven, I have know doubt. You know...

My condolences to the Durkin family. J.D. was a great man. I have many fond memories of him and his wonderful family. One of my favorite attributes he had was that he always had something positive and encouraging to say to you each time you saw him. He was, as we all know, a character in the best sense of the word. I also remember him running for the door when the loud red fire phone would ring! :-)
