I didn't realize at the time until years later, that Jean Avery and I married into the same family. My husband's family was from Lincolnton, and was my English teacher and a live wire for sure! I loved her positive ways...she was my English teacher and a blessing to all. Comfort to all her family, and especially Darrell and family..

I will never forget the wonderful time that I had when the Averys took us to Europe! They were so much fun, and Jean was a blast! She was a great teacher to me at West Meck, and my heart goes out to her family!I pray the Lord will comfort all during this time!

I wish to send my deepest condolences to Darrell and his family. I knew Jean only a short time but learned quickly that she had a huge heart and spirit for the Lord. May God bless all of you and may his promise of everlasting life help you during this difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to the Avery family. Mrs. Avery was a wonderful person! I had a great time with her at West Mecklenburg! She chaperoned our Senior cruise; it was the best!!! She will be missed!

Dear Mr. Avery and Beloved Sons- I will miss Jean and her wonderful spirit! I have never seen a family so devoted as you were to her-it only makes me wish we could have done more for her!We tried with the radiation but in the end it seems God needed her there with him more than we needed her here on Earth.Love and God bless you,Teresa.

Jean Avery was a whirlwind on two legs! She was my Indianette and prom committee advisor. She had a way of making hard work seem like it was fun and hours would just fly by. I can still remember all those times we gathered at her house to make candy apples to sell for Indianettes or decorations for the junior-senior prom. I will miss her and her exuberance for life!

Jean's students said that she could read aloud the telephone book and make it interesting. We all loved her at West Meck High. My deepest sympathy goes to the family.

May God's peace be your strength. We know that God's word says to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. I am thankful to have been taught by Mrs. avery at West Mecklenburg.
