Not sure what to say?

We fondly remember how Jean and Flip welcomed us into the Chicago Yacht Club Cruising Sail Fleet and how lovely their Windsong was. Pete also remembers the lively conversation on his "date" with Jean when he visited Ann Arbor one day when Flip was out of town. We were fortunate to know her.

When I think of Jean the words that come to mind are warm and welcoming, committed and responsible, also caring and generous. In leading the Osher discussion group with Flip, Jean made each member feel welcome and that their contribution to the group was essential and very appreciated. She had a real facility for remembering names! Jean held political views that were caring and liberal and she didn't just think her own thoughts, she took responsibility and was committed to bringing her...

Jean had a tremendous impact on the conservation work here in DuPage County, Illinois. Her leadership both as executive director and as a board member for The Conservation Foundation will never be forgotten. More importantly, she was a very positive and wonderful person.

I also met Jean and Flip through U-M Friends of Musical Theatre. The Connells were warm and welcoming to all, communicated abiding interest and joy for Musical Theatre and other U-M programs, and inspired me with their wonderful zest for life. Jean will be very dearly remembered.

May our Heavenly Father's promise at Isaiah 65:17,22-24 comfort you during this time of sadness.

What a lovely, kind-hearted, strong woman. She will be missed and will live on in all of our hearts!

I met Jean through the Friends of Musical Theater, where she and Flip were such wonderful leaders. I will miss her cheerful smile, words of welcome for donor and student alike.

Jean lit up any room she walked into. Her smile was infectious. She could make any one feel special. I admired her intelligence and her organizational talent and skill. Along with Flip, she was a special (dedicated) OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the UofM) volunteer for many years. She will be missed.

Jean was the woman my sister and I wanted to be when we grew up. She really had me when she offered home made donuts to trick-or-treaters on Halloween in Elmhurst! Many, many fond memories our families share. Thinking of the Connell's, knowing our lives are better for having Jean in them. Love, Kim Carlson
