Read MoreI was privileged to receive a scholarship to attend Harvard University as a student athlete many years ago funded by Jean de Valpine. We met over lunch and discussed his family. He was a proud father in addition to his many other accomplishments. He was a generous man and I thank him for his contribution to my education.

Mr. de Valpine,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific fighting the Japanese during WW II as a member of the 25th "Tropic Lightning" Infantry which saw extensive action on the Phillipine island of Luzon in 1945. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
