In 1988 there were three new faculty members added to the Physics & Astronomy Dept. at KU, and all three of them arrived with wives who were pregnant with new life. Jean Dirks, Tere Arritt and Jill Baringer naturally developed a close relationship in the ensuing years as we shared stories about raising our similarly-aged children.
