Jean Thomas Dorrell

Jean remains a loving friend of many! She is in the thoughts and prayers of her dearest friends: Cindy Barnes, and Mary Alice Baker. They post her pictures, and the fun things they did together! Heaven is brighter with you there!

Jean was a talented having authored professional literature and teaching at Lamar University. She led a full life and and I can remember with great fondness a cruise that we took with her to the Mediterranean. We also took a lovely tour of Natchez Mississippi and looked at some of the plantations there and then we went to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and went by LSU which she attend and even went by the dorm building where she'd roomed and she pointed to the window that she would often look...

I am very proud to call Jean my grandmother, or as we know her, Gran. Gran loved big get togethers with her family and friends, and truly loved life. She was one of my biggest supporters and loved talking to "those sweet great-grandbabies" over the phone. She was such a joy to be around and will be dearly missed. I love you, Gran.

Mrs. Dorrell was my professor at Lamar over 30 years ago. She had such a cheerful and pleasant demeanor. I learned so much from her. I still have The Answer Book that she wrote in 1987 and reference it from time to time. It's wonderful to see that she lived a long and rewarding life. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Mrs Dorrell was my teacher at Lamar University over 50 years ago. She always had a smile on her face and was an excellent teacher. Rest in peace.

I remember Jean as a positive, happy woman who brightened every place she went. She was my sister, Cindy Barnes, dearest friend, mentor, and co-worker. I would keep up with Jean through Cindy. Jean will be missed and loved by me, and I plan on hugging her neck in Heaven!

Such a fine, wonderful, intelligent, kind, and sweet lady. She very much loved and enjoyed life. I was very proud to be one of her friends. We enjoyed many happy birthdays and many Christmas memories along with Dr. Cynthia Barnes, Debra King, and Dr. Mary Alice Baker. Thanks for all the memories and good times my dear Jean. Jean Dorrell was a most remarkable and wonderful woman. She was always so kind and considerate of all who had the honor and privilege to know her. Jean was a very caring and giving individual to all that she came in contact with. Several of our mutual friends-Dr. Cynthia Barnes- Dr. Mary Alice Baker - Mr. Harry Schoppe and myself had the best opportunities to share many birthdays- holidays together - always knowing how much happiness we each shared throughout the many years we have known...

Jean was one of my best friends of 41 years. She had a big heart and truly loved her children, her friends, and her cats. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and I will miss her so much.
