Jean H. Goulet

JEAN HELEN GOULET age 89 of Groton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

Jean was born in Norwich on April 20, 1932 the daughter of Harold and Katherine Giovanini Ross. She was the widow of Robert Goulet who passed away on December 19, 1996.

Jean is survived by her daughter Linda Gastiger and husband Gary, of Mystic, her sister June McDonough of Stonington, her grandchildren Alexander Gastiger and wife Mallory of Ledyard, Katherine Ross and husband Richard of Landing, New Jersey, and 2 great granddaughters Penelope Jean and Vivienne Jo.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, William Goulet, her brother Richard Ross, and her sister Dorothy Cloutier. Her sister Patricia Engle passed away Monday also.

Primarily a home maker she also worked in a variety of retail stores including Montgomery Ward, WT Grant, and Anderson-Little.  She welcomed everyone into her home.  There was always a pot of coffee brewing.  Her kindness, generosity, and laughter will be remembered by many.  She loved the beach and through the years her favorite spots were Bluff Point, the sandbar, and Eastern Point where she could be seen with a book or crossword puzzle in her hand or swimming with her children and grandchildren.

Jean was a graduate of Robert E. Fitch Sr. High School and a member of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 11 at 11 o’clock at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, Groton Long Point Road, Groton. Interment will be in Starr Burying Ground.
