On October 8, 2021, after completing the work God sent her here to do, Jean Sabin Groberg transitioned from this mortality to another side of heaven. Jean was born in Payson, Utah on August 30, 1934 to Marie Elizabeth Huber and Merrill Rex Sabin. In 1940, Jean and her family moved to North Hollywood, CA. After graduating from North Hollywood High, Jean attended BYU. It was there that she met her forever companion John Holbrook Groberg. They corresponded as John served his mission in Tonga for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Jean taught elementary school in Anaheim. On September 6, 1957 they were married in the Los Angeles Temple. Together they have seen their small family of 11 children grow to include 45 grandchildren, 30+ great-grandchildren, and countless beloved friends around the globe. Jean's quiet grace, unassuming dignity, and transcendent class allowed her to see and reach beyond man-imposed barriers with an impartial love and respect for all of God's children. With that same grace, dignity, and class, she took her recent leukemia prognosis in stride while offering peace, perspective, and the hope of a joyful hereafter to all who now mourn her passing. You can read more of Jean's life and legacy and details regarding her memorial services at RussonMortuary.com.

Not sure what to say?

I thought they barely knew me given their vast worldwide association of friends. In 2008 I was in a potentially 2 to 4 hour outdoor freezing cold line in 2008 with my family at the conference center to view President Hinkley after his passing. 2 weeks before this I was blessed to receive a kidney transplant and in my weakened state had already regretted coming with the family. I should have stayed home to recover further. While sitting on a cold stone wall, Elder and Sister Groberg walked by....

My deepest sympathies to Elder Groberg and family. Kolipoki was my Book of Mormon teacher at Ricks 1971 and we reconnected at the Pulehu Pageant in Kula 1987. Such wonderful examples of Gods love. Aloha

We are indeed sorry to of the passing of Jean Groberg and express our condolences to John and family She was a gracious lady and loved the Lord and her Family. We were serving in Tonga when John and Jean came as Mission President. To John we just want to tell you of our sorrow, and of the love we have for you and the books you have written and the movies that been produced. We have them all. May God bless you in your sorrow.

Together At Twilight Bouquet

Jean was and is an inspiration to all who knew her. We will miss her positive outlook on life and her dedication to the Savior and her family.

We were surprised to hear of Jean's passing. They were special friends to us. We lived next door in Idaho Falls and we have always kept in touch. Jean and John's first 4 children are the same ages as ours. He was our Bishop in Idaho Falls. We lived near them when they moved to Bountiful. Jean was a very special person. May the Lord's blessing be with her family at this time. There is a great reunion up in heaven with all who have graduated from her family to live with Heavenly Father. ...

Forever my dear Sister and Angel. You saved me. You will be missed until we meet again. Love and Prayers

I am so sorry for your loss. She is a great lady. I love her and your dad. I don´t know if any of you remember me, but I used to babysit you and your dad was my Bishop and my dad was one of his counselors. Very fond memories of your family. Know my prayers are with you
