Jean Kinney Obituary
Jean was born in Whitehaven, England, to William and Florence Berridge and immigrated to the U.S. in 1929. Jean resided in Newton, for 54 years, and previously in Sparta. She was an elder and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta for 77 years. Jean was a member of the Presbyterian women, and many other church ministries, as well as the Sparta Woman's Club.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Ralph S. Kinney, and son, Ralph J. (Jim) Kinney. Surviving is her sister, Viola Czarnecki, of Hackettstown; daughter-in-law, Lillian L. Kinney, of Hampton Township; grandchildren, Kerry Kinney and husband, Gil Bakal, and James Kinney; great-grandsons, Fisher and Miles Bakal, all of New York City.
A celebration of her life was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 28, at First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, followed by interment in Newton Cemetery. Memorial donations are being accepted to First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, 32 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871, or Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 Sparta Ave., Sparta, NJ 07871.

Jean was a very special person to me. As a volunteer at Andover Sub Acute, Pastoral Care Team, I have visited with her for many years. We have shared many stories. She always touched my heart with her love for her family and her church. I know that even though she will be greatly missed by the three generations of her family, that she is at peace with her Lord and celebrating in the reunion with her husband and son. My prayers are that this same peace may be with her family, until they meet again.
