Jean Paul Rivard, 85, of Pawtucket, peacefully passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018.  He was the husband of Theresa (Deragon) Rivard for 62 years.  Born June 27, 1932, he was the beloved son of the late Alphonse and Albina (Plante) Rivard.


Jean served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1972 in the locations of Morocco, England, Vietnam, and Chile. Retiring from the Air Force, he was employed at Rand Assembly, V.P. Winter, and School House Candy.  He was kind and loving as well as a devout and faith filled Catholic.  He had a zest for life and was always smiling and whistling and was always one you could depend on.  One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family.  His devotion will be greatly missed.  He liked camping, fishing, listening to music and scratching lottery tickets.


He is survived by two sons, Richard Rivard, and Jean Paul Rivard, Jr and his wife Janet; two daughters, Debra Walker and her husband Raymond, and Marie Costa and her husband Victor. He was the proud pepere of four granddaughters, one grandson, and two great grandsons. He is also survived by his sisters Rejeanne Denault and Claire Lemay, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roger Rivard, Leo Rivard, Marcel Rivard, Gus Rivard, Terry Chevrette, and Denise Benoit. 


His funeral will be held on Monday, March 19 at 9:30am from the Costigan-O’Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Our Lady of Consolation Church, 211 Sabin Street, Pawtucket. Burial with Military Honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Monday from 9:30am-11am in the funeral home prior to the mass.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Vietnam Veterans of America at vva.org or 8719 Colesville Rd, Ste 100, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
