Jean Phillips Sanders

Jean Phillips Sanders, age 86 of Atlanta passed away on April 26, 2019. She was born on September 9, 1932 in Columbus, Georgia. She is survived by her son, Dewey Norman Sanders, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida and her daughter, Nancy Sanders McKinney (David) of Atlanta; grandchildren Allison Grill (Pat), Ashley Williams (Ben), Patrick Sanders and Daniel Sanders; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey N. Sanders; both parents Sarah Ross and Julian Phillips, and her brother, John Ross. Jean's passions were her faith, family, and friends. She loved Auburn football and spending time at the beach, especially with her grandchildren. Through the years Jean and Dewey lived in Gadsden, Asheville, NC, Birmingham and Jacksonville, FL where they enjoyed being active in their church and community. The celebration of Jean's life will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Orion Star residential home in Atlanta for their loving care of Jean. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association are suggested.
