Jean Elisabeth Torcom

Dr. Torcom was an outstanding chair if the then Government Deparyment at CSUS.(Now the Political Science Dept.) I had the honor to be one of her undergraduate students and later taught an evening course in the department while she was department chair. The class I took on the legislative process in Congress continue to provide me guidance in my work.

Torc and I were roommates for junior and senior years at Kemper Hall, our Episcopal Church boarding school in Kenosha Wisconsin. Thank you to whoever wrote that wonderful obit, which captured so well the girl I knew 70 years ago, who clearly went on to a life well lived.

Jean is the only person I know whose meat of choice was lamb on the very rare side. She made the best pilaf ever. She is missed.

My condolences to the family. Jean was such a nice lady. She was the laughter and talked about many things at our table, when we would get together at Sacramento State Fall Alumni event. She will be dearly missed.
