Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

WARGO (JARBOE), Jean Ellen – Loving wife and mother of Flint and Grand Blanc, age 88, died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at The Pines of Burton.


Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating.


Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, Food Bank of Eastern Michigan or charity of your choice.


Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.


Visitation 10 a.m. Friday at church until the time of the Mass.


Jean was born in Flint on August 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Charles and Winifred (Brockriede) Jarboe.


Jean graduated from St. Michael High School in 1948.


On June 11, 1955 she married Joseph Wargo at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint.


Jean was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and belonged to The Council of Catholic Women, St. Gerard Guild, Vis-a-Vis Club Women's Group and P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter AY. She was also a past member of the Genesys Volunteer Services and past member of the Flint Golf Club.


Jean and Joe belonged to the Nomads Friends Group with Hastings, Karr, McLaughlin, Foster, Vamos and Schneck. She always enjoyed the fun and laughter with her very good longtime friends, Dan and Mary Cady, Dick and Margaret Daly, Doug and Barb Walker, Max and Joan Calhoun, Pete and Jeanine Clancy.


Jean and Joe took many trips; biking in Holland Netherlands, Italy and saw the Vatican, Switzerland, St. Thomas Island, Florida in February and downhill skiing from the middle 70’s to early 2000’s, with good friends in Traverse City and Petoskey gathering in the fable Valhalla Lounge, where wine, other beverages and laughs flowed freely. The highlight was spending evenings watching an Irish singer from Belfast, Sean Ryan, perform.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, of 62 years; parents, Charles and Winifred Jarboe; brother, Lloyd Jarboe; twin sister, Joan (Earl) Zamaites; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Ralph) Gleason, Frances (George) Matus; brothers-in-law, Leonard Weycker and Tom Burns, John (Jean) Wargo; niece, Louise Weycker and nephew, Joe Weycker.


Surviving are daughter, Connie and son-in-law, Matthew Kramer of Grand Blanc; sister, Lucille Weycker Burns of Burton; sisters-in-law, Helen Jarboe of Lupton, MI and Marion (Paul) Zofchak of Swartz Creek.


God-children, Jim and Theresa (Hayes) Weycker, Nancy (Lauckner) and Steven Zamaites, Patrick Jarboe, Maureen Cady Ayers and Stephanie Hastings Chlan;


several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
