Paul, Jeanette Age 99, of Deephaven, MN. Born February 20, 1914, passed away April 18, 2013. Preceded in death by husband, James R. Paul, longtime employee of WCCO radio, and parents, Maynard and Anna Cedergren Barquist. Jeanette attended Minneapolis schools in the winter months and Groveland School in Deephaven during the fall and spring months. She attended West High School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1930, and the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1934. While at the University, she was active in Delta Zeta Sorority, the University Student Council, and other campus activities. During WWII, from 1941 to 1946, Jeanette was director of Child Care Centers in Minneapolis for children of mothers employed in the war effort. In that capacity she established centers in various public schools, hired staff, planned and supervised programs, and advised similar efforts throughout the area. From 1946 to 1948, Jeanette was Director of Volunteers for Big Sister Association in Minneapolis. From 1948 to 1975. she was Welfare Director for the Dayton-Hudson Corporation in Minneapolis. While in that position, she was responsible for the administration of the Medical and Welfare departments, providing medical services and confidential counseling to Dayton Stores, Corporate Offices, and operating companies. During her professional career, she served in various volunteer community activities, including the United Fund, National Conference on Social Welfare, the Minnesota Welfare Association, the Community Health and Welfare Council of Hennepin County, the Career Clinic for Mature Women, and the YWCA. After retiring, she and Jim spent winters in Florida. loved fishing, and traveled extensively. She maintained a lifelong interest in the University of Minnesota, and was an avid fan of her beloved Gophers. She and Jim much enjoyed their Scottish Terriers. She was a patron of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Abbott Northwestern Hospital and the U of M Landscape Arboretum, among others. She is survived by cousins and many friends. Memorials preferred to Westminster Presbyterian Church or donor's choice. Memorial service 2 PM Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis.
