JEANETTE VAN BAREN (NEE HAAK) LANSING, IL On Tuesday, October 12, 2010, Jeanette Van Baren (nee Haak), age 85, was taken by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to her heavenly home. Beloved wife of the late Gysbert A. Van Baren; loving mother of Beth (Dennis) Van Uffelen, Philip (Nancy) Van Baren, Gysbert (Joanne) Van Baren, Debra (Randall) Poortinga, Esther (Duane) Huisken, Mary (Donald) Terpstra, and Jeanine (John) Huizenga; cherished grandmother of 30 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren; dear sister of the late Nick (late Henrietta) Haak, late Gert (late George) Postma, late Hank (late Carrie) Haak, late Jake (late Johanna) Haak, late Art (late Marie) Haak, late Barney (Thressa) Haak, late Henrietta Haak, late John (Dora) Haak, and the late William (late Ella) Haak; sister-in-law of Shirley (late Tunis) Van Baren and Agnes (Perlin) Schut. Jeanette was a faithful mother and led her children in the ways of the Lord. She was a lifetime member of the South Holland Protestant Reformed Church. Visitation Friday, October 15, 2010 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. at the Protestant Reformed Church of Crete, 1777 E. Richton Road Crete, IL. Interment will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. at Homewood Memorial Gardens, Homewood, IL with graveside services conducted by Rev. Carl Haak. Funeral services Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Protestant Reformed Church of Crete with services conducted by Rev. Nathan Langerak. I want to offer the whole Van Baren family my deepest sympathy. Mrs. Van Baren's smile lit up any room she was in. She was a true friend to my parents and raised some of the most wonderful people I have ever known. My fondest childhood memories took place in her home and yard. I always tried to be at her house at 3:00 because that was snack time. I realize now that she didn't need to be feeding extra kids, but she always made us feel welcome. I know she was the heart of...

I have such warm, fond memories of the wonderful mom of my dearest childhood friends. I grew up nearby and Mrs. Van Baren always made me feel welcome in her home. I could tell she enjoyed it when I played her piano while my sisters and her daughters gathered around to sing. It was clear to me, even as a child, that Mrs. Van Baren had a deep love for God and her children. It is good to see that her legacy of faith lives on.
