Jeanne Swanner Robertson

Jeanne Swanner came to our small town Hallsboro as Miss NC in early 1964. When my mother took my sister (age 9) to see her in the high school auditorium, my sister got her autograph and thought she was a "real queen." Our family then moved to Richmond, VA in 1966, and decades later in 2014 when I was volunteering in a shop there, a tall, striking woman walked in one day. After greeting her, she told me she was Jeanne Robertson and that she was giving a speech in our complex that afternoon....

I'm so sorry that I have found out about the joy of listening to and watching Jeanne performances too late to be able to see her live. When I need to laugh I still pull up YouTube posts of Jeanne´s humorist speeches. I just recently saw a couple I hadn´t seen before and as always laughed and laughed. I am so glad that a few years after her passing we still have her with us in these posts to help us find the humor in our lives and laugh at her "down home" humor without any bad words or nastiness. I have just become aware of this dear ladies passing, I am so very sorry. She was a beautiful woman who brought a laugh to any situation. Comedy has lost a very talented lady. My prayers go out to family and friends. May she now be in the arms of Jesus.

Jeanne has stolen my heart. Just found her a month ago on utube. Followed all her funny stories. They say laughter is the best medicine.
