Chadwick Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC - New London Obituary

New London, NH-Jeanne Moison Tate, 91, passed away peacefully at New London Hospital on January 16, 2023, following a period of declining health.  Jeanne was born in Groton, MA on July 28, 1931.  She is survived by her son, Douglas Tate and daughter-in-law, Beth Tate and her daughter, Joanne Franklin, and son-in-law, Andrew Silovich; plus relatives near and far.

Jeanne married James A. Tate and they settled in Simsbury, CT to raise their family and contribute to the community.  Jeanne worked for the Simsbury VNA.  Summers were spent on Crystal Lake in Gilmanton, Ironworks where everyone enjoyed swimming, sailing, fishing (!), especially night fishing for hornpout and fooling around on the raft down at the main dock and hiking.  Those were idyllic and fun times with cousins.

Jeanne was active in the Andover Service Club.  She was the secretary and enjoyed baking cakes to sell for fund-raising.  She also was active in wo-manning the Club's thrift store.  She especially enjoyed receiving books from Tracy Memorial Library in New London.  After selling their home on Lake Sunapee, they bought a house on Knights Hill Road in New London.  They enjoyed their neighbors and had a nice community there.

A reception to honor her long and active life will be held at Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 10:30 to noon.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at the Elkins Chapel and burial will be in  Center Cemetery in Dunstable, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jeanne's name to the Tracy Memorial Library, 304 Main Street, New London, NH  03257 or the Andover Service Club, 26 School Street, Andover, NH  03216.

Not sure what to say?

Jeanne was a beautiful person. I have so many great memories of growing up and spending time with the Tate family. A favorite memory was being snowed in at their house. Joanne and Doug, I'm sure you remember it too. What a great time we all had. I am sad that I won't see her again or hear her cheerful voice, but grateful I was able to see her in recent years. My heart is with all of you and hope that all the wonderful memories will help ease your loss. Sending love and prayers. Gail Gowen Hayden

Jeanne was a wonderful woman who loved her family. I have many happy memories of times at Crystal Lake and watching Super Bowl Games with her and Uncle Jim. They are now re-united and with Gammie and Gampie. How I miss them!

I haven't known Jeanne long but she always made me smile, She had such a great personality and beautiful smile. She will be missed dearly. Joan you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
