Jeanne Van Kley, age 92, of Worthington, Minnesota, formerly of Ocheyedan, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 1:30 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan, Iowa. Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery in Ocheyedan, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, October 17, from 4:30 to 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 4:30 to 7:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Chapel in Ocheyedan. Jeanne Van Kley was born on November 23, 1915, in Terril, IA. She was the daughter of Clarence G. and Emma (Gill) Lighter. She lived her youth in Terril, Iowa, until she was 7 years old and then moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa. She worked for the Ocheyedan Arrow Newspaper, until she was married. She was united in marriage to Arie C. Van Kley of Ocheyedan, Iowa, on February 18, 1939, in Ocheyedan. They lived and farmed southeast of Ocheyedan where Jeanne was a farm wife, mother and homemaker. They retired in 1978, and moved into town. Arie passed away on May 29, 1993. Jeanne was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan. She was a former president of the UMW and served on the church board. She was very active in the community. She owned and operated the CAT Shop, which was a craft and thrift shop in Ocheyedan. Jeanne moved to the Sunshine Apartments in Worthington, Minnesota, in May of 1999. She started the "Sunshine Moments" monthly newsletter. On October 11, 2007, she moved to South Shore Care Center in Worthington. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, 3 sons and one daughter: Alan Casey & Cathy Van Kley of Ankeny, IA, Clinton Arie Van Kley of Farnhamville, IA, Neal Wayne & Cindy Van Kley of Spencer, OK, Linda Jean & Gayden Wohlman of Worthington, MN; 14 grandchildren: Russ & Susan Plueger, Greg & Jeanne Lammers, James & Kim Van Kley, Jeff & Linda Van Kley, Kelly & Donella Reum, Heith & Amy Jaeschke, Pat & Becci Fritz, Don & Kari Hoonhorst, Kurt Van Kley & fiancee Taina Schumpert, Dan & Bobbie Hager, Brad Wohlman, Donnie & Sara Brandel, Karly Van Kley, Mitch Van Kley; 19 great-grandchildren: Jake & Jennifer Shipp, Gregory Lammers, Crystal Plueger, Roberta Reum, Jason Lammers, Heather Plueger, Kaitlyn Van Kley, Veronica Fritz, Dakota Jaeschke, Tyler Van Kley, Joshua Fritz, Madyson Jaeschke, Micah Fritz, Emily Jaeschke, Elijah Schumpert, Noah Fritz, Jaidyn Brandel, Araya Van Kley, Logan Jaeschke; 2 great-great-grandchildren: Kylie Shipp, Kaleb Shipp; 2 sisters-in-law: Geraldine Lighter of Storm Lake, IA, Ethel Lighter of Milford, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband: Arie; one daughter-in-law: Kathy Van Kley; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
