Jeanne Whitehouse

Jeanne was one of my heroes. I first met her as a student in a Children´s Literature class at UNM. She spoke w such wisdom and clarity on everything . She will for sure make herself known on the other side w her stories and humor. To honor her I will make sure the Corrales library has all her published books. Jeanne left a footprint. I too, am a cousin of Jeanne´s on her Dad´s side. I have heard from her every Christmas and we visited her in Albuquerque in 2017. I had no idea she had passed until our cousin Gary told me today. I´m so very sorry. She was a wonderful talented caring person. She spent time with our family on our ranch in Oregon when she was growing up.

Dear Frances,Ellen and Catherine, I just learned of your mother's passing today. I am David's cousin from NJ. I had been trying to reach her for a few days and called Bob (Susan's husband) to see if he had heard from Jeanne recently. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. Your mother and I shared family news and pictures over the years and I will certainly miss our chats! Much love and sympathy to you all.

Jeanne was my first cousin. I hadn´t seen her in years. My cousin Sondra kept me informed. I remember seeing her as a young girl, and her sister Julie and their mother my aunt Lillian. So sorry for your loss.

Jeanne was my first cousin and we maintained telephone connections for many years. My husband and I did visit Jeanne and David in ABQ during our road trip in the 1990's, and they visited us in Berkeley once after that. Sadly, the distance between Berkeley CA and Albuquerque NM seemed too far for either of us to bridge it after these trips. Jeanne was a brilliant writer -- I have all of her books and will read each of them again tonight! She was soft spoken but said what she thought. I...

So many wonderful memories over 40 years of friendship. I´ll especially miss our regular get-togethers to share and discuss recent children´s books over tea or lunch. But, so much more! Rest in peace dear friend!
