Great memories of Whale!

Just found a photo from 1975...Jeff feeding ducks from his dorm room.

Jeff Whalen was the R.A. of first floor Wilson Hall at MSU. As the leader of this floor he took in a bunch of immature, scared freshmen and made them feel welcome and a part of a small community in a very large setting. Thank you "Whale" for being a major part of a "Special" year!

I got to know Jeff my freshman year at MSU, and was his roommate for the second semester. Jeff was much admired and loved for his joyful presence and zest for life. He will be missed!

Dear Whalen family,
We are all deeply sorry to hear about the death of Jeff. He will always be remembered with a smile. We are sending thoughts and prayers of peace and strength in this time of sadness. Eugene, Sally, Paula, John, Joan, Mary ,Chris, Teresa, Vincent and Stephen Herzog

Great guy and a great very dry sense of humor. He let me borrow a book to read called The Rape of the Ape(American Puritan Ethic) by Allan Sherman when I was a junior and to this day is still the funniest book I have ever read. Thanks again Jeff. Rest in Peace!!!

Dearest Whalen family,
I was so shocked when my brother Nelson told me about Jeff. You're all in my thoughts and prayers. I remember the Whalen family when you were all LITTLE ones on Walnut St. in Mt. Morris. I loved having your big family as neighbors and remember pushing Treasurer to school in her wheelchair. Loved your parents too.
In Christian Love,

Anyone who grew up in Mt Morris, knew someone in the Whalen clan. Usually it was Jeff, that they knew! Most everyone of the entries here, speak of the same thing. His care, and compassion for all he came in contact with! He always had something positive to share with anyone who would listen! Also, so sad to see an entry here by Ric Hess, who died suddenly at his restaurant in Chicago. The Mt Morris community has lost two wonderful, and caring men! Blessings to all.

I was shocked to hear of Jeff's passing. Sending prayers and thinking of all the Whalen family during this difficult time. Jeff was a wonderful person, have many memories of hanging out at the little Leadly house.
