Jefferson D. Giller, age 90, of Houston, was born on the 5th of January 1921, and died on Thursday, the 30th of June 2011.
Jeff Giller served in the Army for three and a half years, mostly during World War II, was a paratrooper and was honorably discharged from the 11th Airborne Division with the rank of Captain. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree, together with the Order of the Coif from the University of Illinois.
He commenced the practice of law in 1949 with Royston & Razor, and joined the present law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. in 1951, from which he retired as a Senior Partner in 1989. His law practice was principally in the fields of intellectual property and utility law, in which fields he tried cases before administrative tribunals and trial courts, and argued cases in Texas and federal appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
He was an active member and director of the American Patent Law Association, former president of the Texas Utility Lawyers Association and held membership in the Federal Energy Bar. His principal leisure interest was golf.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until eight o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 5th of July, in the Drawing Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 6th of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. The interment will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
